Rohit Sharma will be the captain while Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are not in the squad against West Indies. KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav have made their comeback into the squad.
On Thursday BCCI announced the squad for the five-match T20I series against West Indies. Rohit Sharma will be leading the side while Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are not part of the squad as BCCI gave them rest. KL Rahul is making his comeback after he had gone through an injury last month. Along with KL Rahul’s veteran spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin is also named for the squad, while leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was not named in the squad.
India will play five-match T20I series against West Indies will start on July 29. There will be a three-match ODI series that will be played before the T20Is, starting July 22.
Kuldeep Yadav is also making his comeback to the Indian team after a long time, however, on the other side, Umran Malik is not a part of the squad while left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has been named for the T20Is.
Earlier, the squad for the ODI series against West Indies was announced and opener Shikhar Dhawan will be the captain in the ODIs. In the ODI series Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah were all rested.
All eyes will be on the performances of youngsters Deepak Hooda, Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh, as they will try to take their place in the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be played in Australia in October-November.
