Former India captain Kapil Dev said if Ashwin with nearly 450 Test wickets can be dropped from the Test team then Kohli too is no longer suitable in T20Is after his current form.
To say that Virat Kohli is struggling for runs would be a statement by seeing his current form. The last time Kohli scored a century was almost three years ago. The runs are literally not coming out for the former India captain in the last few seasons.
The absence of runs from Kohli’s bat brought criticism from all around the world including some great Indian cricketers.
Previous India World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev to questions the 33-year-old by saying that he is getting many chances without performing reliably.
Kapil said, “Yes, now the situation is such that you might be forced to bench Kohli from T20 playing eleven. If world No. 2 bowler Ashwin can be dropped from Test side then (quite a long time ago) world No. 1 batter can also be dropped.”
Rajkumar Sharma, Kohli’s childhood coach has come out in defence of Kholi and lashed out at Kapil Dev by saying that he can’t make out the rush that Kapil is showing to eliminate Kohli from the Indian team.
Further, he said, “I do not support the statements made by Kapil Dev on Virat Kohli. Nothing big happened with Virat that such kind of statement has been issued. Why is there so much hurry with Virat, he has done so well for the country. Making 70 international centuries is not a small thing. I do not think the board will make a decision to have him sit on the bench.”
Kapil Dev also is a legend of the game and Rajkumar Sharma should recognize that without raising his voice to Kapil’s views.
